Excellence in English language training since 1955; St Giles offers a wide range of courses for different ages and needs and has an outstanding reputation being awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2015.
St Giles International London Central School occupies a magnificent 100-year-old building in the heart of fashionable Bloomsbury and is situated opposite Russell Square, a 5-minute walk to the world-famous British Museum.
St Giles has been providing English Language Courses and Teacher Training for 60 Years. The school has a capacity of 720, 56 classrooms and a hugely international student intake from over 94 different countries.
St Giles International prides itself on its superbly equipped classrooms but also understands that students need facilities outside of lessons.
The St Giles approach to teaching and learning a language is ‘Learner Centred’. This means that we focus on the needs, interests and aims of our students, and plan the content of the course on the basis of this information.
Our learners are encouraged to participate actively in the process of learning and acquiring the new language, and we aim to promote learner independence. All our teachers plan fast-paced interactive lessons so that students are motivated to learn and our courses are interesting, relevant and enjoyable.
All our teachers are qualified, native level English speakers, and many have years of experience. We also have a high ratio of Diploma and Masters qualified teachers at our schools.
Teacher Development Programme:
St Giles is very proud of our teacher development programme,
All our centres have a teacher development programme helping our teachers to continually improve their skills. We also encourage them to take further qualifications and all teachers are regularly observed and appraised.
As part of our Teacher Development effort, we employ a group-wide scheme of graded teacher observations, whereby teachers can learn from the practice of others and receive dedicated feedback on their performance and progress. This process helps to maintain consistent teaching standards at all our centres and upholds St Giles’ reputation for high quality teaching as evidenced by our inspection reports.
St Giles has a special needs coordinator at both our Central London and Highgate schools and we keep our class sizes to 12 to enable appropriate student support. St Giles has a very active social programme to support English language learning with trips organized weekly to London’s historic and social venues.
We run creative writing classes, trips to Stonehenge, Brighton, Scotland and London film studios and much more. Every Monday night is New Student’s night where you can meet and make friends as you start your course. We also support classroom learning with online English language tips and an active school blog.
