The Stafford House school in Boston - known as the Boston Academy - is located in the heart of the downtown area of the city. It is a small, intimate school offering a wide range of courses and excellent facilities.
The Stafford House schools group has over 60 years’ experience in English language tuition, with locations in the UK and the USA, and a global reputation for a high standard of teaching.
Students learn through speaking, listening, writing and vocabulary and are encouraged to actively participate in class discussion. The school also offers a unique ‘module option’ within many of its courses, which allow students to choose topics of interest that fit with their learning goals such as; global issues, news and media, exam practice and pronunciation.
Lessons at Boston Academy are engaging, fun and relevant, with an emphasis on building confidence.
All teachers at the Boston Academy are qualified native-level English speakers, some to Diploma level. Teachers are evaluated each week and engage in regular training to ensure that students receive the best experience possible. All teaching staff have experience in teaching in America, or abroad.
Feedback and Testing:
In addition to regular feedback from their teachers, students receive a monthly one-to-one session with a senior member of staff to discuss their progress and any other issues related to their learning.
On arrival students take a level assessment test, which tests your knowledge of grammar and vocabulary, and how well you are able to understand and speak English, helping the school to understand the class in which you will be happiest and most successful.
As well as teaching staff, the Boston Academy has a welfare team who provide full support to students surrounding accommodation, transport and other personal issues during their time at the school. On arrival at the school students receive a full induction programme which includes:
● A tour of the school and introduction to the staff
● Help on how to register with the police and a doctor, and how to open a bank account
● Level assessment test
The school actively encourages students to socialise with English-speakers outside of the classroom through organising a multitude of sport and social activities in and around Boston.
1. General English Standard - 20 morning lessons per week, ideal for students who wish to have more free time for other activities. Intermediate language ability required.
2. General English Intensive - 25 lessons per week including a specialist tailored module of interest to the student (American life, current affairs, grammar, pronunciation etc). Intermediate language ability required
3. General English Super Intensive - 30 lessons per week with the choice of two specialist modules tailored to the student’s interests (as above). Intermediate language ability required. Time and Days of the week where the course is taught:
All courses are taught at the The Boston Academy school building. Courses start twice-monthly and the minimum age is 16.
● Standard course (20 lessons): 09.00 to 12.15 every day
● Intensive course (25 lessons): 09.00 to 13.15 every day
● Super Intensive course (30 lessons): 9.00 to 15.15 every day

The course covers grammar and pronunciation relating to a range of topics that include sales, marketing and advertising, human resources, administration, finance and management. Your language and practical skills will grow through various activities such as reading correspondence and reports, writing letters and emails, negotiating, preparing and delivering presentations and socialising and networking.You will need intermediate English skills for this course. The school also offers a Professional Certificates course.
The course applies advanced English to team projects and case studies in one of 4 career areas. These are marketing and advertising, business management and project management. There are visits to American companies and talks from professionals. The certificates cover key skills such as how to build a business case, product development, sales strategies, budget management and leadership. You will need Upper Intermediate English skills for this course.

The program combines targeted lessons in academic language needed for the IELTS and TOEFL examinations with more general English to improve grammar, vocabulary and communication. The course runs for 12 weeks (5 weeks+ IELTS preparation and 5 weeks+ TOEFL preparation) and is open to students with Beginner to Expert level and who have an ONCAMPUS offer letter. All courses are taught at The Boston Academy school building. The Academic English course comprises 30 lessons per week and runs for 12 weeks.

The Boston Academy offers a TOEFL exam preparation course designed for students wishing to gain this internationally recognised English qualification. The course is divided into two, four week categories which cover all four sections of the TOEFL examination. Students can choose to take the four week sections with a break in between or can follow Month B before Month A if so wished. The TOEFL Exam preparation course at Boston Academy is open to those with Intermediate English language ability or above. Time and Days of the week where the course is taught:
All courses are taught at The Boston Academy, school building. The TOEFL preparation course has monthly start dates throughout the year and is taught Monday-Friday, from 09.00 to 13.15.
