Courses

Classes focus primarily on speaking, writing, listening, and reading. In the core General English course students are taught to use the English they will need in the real world outside the classroom.

In elective lessons students practice sub-skills, such as pronunciation and critical thinking, and consolidate their vocabulary and grammar. Additional optional classes have been carefully chosen and designed by experienced curriculum developers with specific student goals and needs in mind.

Students study in small classes with a mix of nationalities. All lessons are planned and delivered by experienced teachers who focus on individual needs and learning style. Audiovisual activities and special projects add an extra dimension to the learning experience.

The school has the most current material and regularly adds to their resources. A wide range of practice material is available to take home for after school study.

Every 2 weeks students have a tutorial with their teacher to discuss progress. Weekly tests check that students have mastered what they are learning. If students need to improve particular skills, learner support classes are provided to focus on the areas they may be finding difficult, or need extra practice in.

Type of courses

For general purposes and for those who like to mix class time and self-study, the Basic Course is 20 lessons a week. It forms the cornerstone of the academic curriculum. It teaches and practices the main skills essential for improvement, speaking, writing, listening, and reading.

After classes in the morning, you are able to take additional elective classes or to organize your own schedule of self-study and/or leisure. The afternoon elective classes allow students to enhance the fundamental skills learned in the Basic Course with more focused and specific skills. This will enable you to learn at an accelerated pace.

You can choose 5 or 10 elective classes a week and these are designed to create a more individualised programme of study. Electives include IELTS preparation, and the Cambridge exams at FCE and CAE levels. The practical nature of the Cambridge exams gives students a solid grounding in all skill areas.

Courses last from 1- 48 weeks. Maximum class size is 14. Minimum age is 16.
