Teaching methodology
Updated on 21/04/2018
The school has an ‘English only’ policy. This is to encourage students to fully engage in the language so that they learn faster. Clear signs are on display throughout the school to remind them not to revert to their native language, and that they have to speak English at all times.

Teachers at OHLA are educated to at least Batchelor’s Degree level. They are also fully qualified to teach English as a second language (ESL). The school actively seeks out individuals who have the international experience of teaching ESL abroad, as well as good qualifications.

Students benefit from their diverse background and experiences. Students learn in small groups. This ensures they get the maximum attention possible, and in turn, leads to a successful outcome of their English education. Five levels of learning are on offer. Students of different levels get to mix in social settings, which means that they can help each other.

OHLA offer entry point test every second Monday. There are a group test and an individual oral interview. This process helps the teachers determine which group is most appropriate for each student.

Students also have the opportunity to take part in organised excursions. One of them is a weekend in Orlando. There, they can visit the Universal Film studios or the Islands of Adventure.
