Learn English in the world’s most exciting city! Situated next to the iconic Brooklyn Bridge in the heart of downtown Manhattan, ILSC New York is an ultra-modern language school which attracts students of all nationalities.

The ILSC education group has eight school locations worldwide, combining excellent facilities with 24 years’ experience in teaching English. The ILSC New York school is centrally located in the thrilling city of New York, in view of the world-famous Brooklyn Bridge. The school is housed in a modern building close to public transport in bustling Downtown and is equipped with 15 classrooms, a computer lab, student lounge and kitchen.

All ILSC schools offer a wide range of unique courses to suit every need and interest. Most courses are offered to all abilities and give students the opportunity to mix and match their subjects every 4-6 weeks.

The ILSC New York welfare team also organises an exciting social program for students including movie nights, museum trips and weekend excursions to Washington DC and Long Island’s wonderful beaches. Students can choose accommodation through the school’s extensive Homestay program or from a range of comfortable student residences.

Courses

ILSC schools offer a unique range of courses which allow students to choose their schedule then ‘build’ their own English language learning path.

Students can select options from a vast range of core subjects which include, Communication, Listening and Speaking Excellence and then add elective subjects covering a large variety of subjects. Learners at ILSC New York benefit hugely from this flexible program as they can choose specific courses tailored to their individual needs.

This student-centred teaching approach allow students to bring their own passions and interests into the classroom, boosting overall fluency and confidence. ILSC New York’s teachers are all university educated native English speakers, with relevant teaching qualifications. Teaching staff give continuous support throughout courses and are carefully selected for their ability to motivate and inspire English language learners.

Type of courses

ILSC schools allow students to follow their own learning path. The core General English courses can be supplemented with a choice of over 70 courses, skills electives and targeted programs. Every 4-6 weeks, students are able to change their schedules according to their learning needs. Core courses include General English skills (speaking, listening, writing and reading), Exam preparation (TOEFL), Business English and more unique courses such as English Through New York or English Through Music.

‘Build-your-own’ schedules at ILSC New York are divided into:

● Full-time: 20 lessons per week (choice of 1 morning course and 1 afternoon course).
● Full-time Intensive: 28 lessons per week (choice of 1 morning course and 2 afternoon courses).
● Full-time Plus: 22 lessons per week (choice of 1 morning course and 1 afternoon course plus two hours per week of teacher-led Self Study)
● Part-time PM:18 lessons per week in the afternoon (choose 2 courses per day)
● Full-time Plus PM - 22 lessons per week in the afternoon (choose 3 courses per day)
● Full-time Plus Evening - 22 lessons from the afternoon to 8pm (choose 3 courses per day)

Time and Days of the week where the course is taught: All courses are taught at the ILSC New York school building from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12.30pm (AM courses), 1.20pm to 3pm (PM courses) and 3.10pm to 8pm (Evening courses).

Lesson duration: 50-120 minutes

Course certificate: Certificate on completion of a four-week course.

ILSC New York offer a wide variety of Business English Courses which students can combine with core general courses. Business courses include: Business English, Business Culture, Business Writing, Business Presentation Skills, English for Marketing and more. Students can choose any business course as their skills elective lesson in the afternoon. Courses focus upon language used in the global workplace and promote fluency in all areas of business communication. Most ILSC business courses are open to students with intermediate language ability and above. Business courses can be combined with other ILSC courses, according to the language goals and interests of individual students.

Make your home in Brooklyn Heights, a short walk from Cadman Plaza Park and the thrift shops and chain stores on Montague Street. Pack a picnic and spend an afternoon sunbathing in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and stroll along Brooklyn Heights Promenade to take in the gorgeous views across the river to Manhattan’s skyscrapers. Then, walk downtown to take advantage of the eclectic range of eateries on offer. Try Pollo d’Oro for Peruvian specialities and rotisserie chicken, or Café Habana for an award-winning Cuban sandwich.
