Courses

Being fully immersed in the target language is the only way to improve fast, so teachers will encourage you to speak in English all the time. Your teacher will provide visual support through pictures, symbols and illustrations.

Students are actively involved in classes. Learning in small groups ensures that all learners are participating at all times. Students answer questions, formulate questions of their own, solve problems, discuss, explain, brainstorm and cooperate with other course participants. Cooperative learning tasks are intellectually demanding and creative and genuine teamwork supports progress.
Real life situations are provided in class and textbooks use authentic language. A wide range of additional resources make learning inviting as well as motivating.

Teachers are trained to design lessons around their students' interests. They challenge and support every single student by providing individual feedback and suggestions about how they can further improve and make the most of their personal learning style.
Teachers are University-trained with professional teaching qualifications and all speak English at a native-speaker level.

Type of courses

For students from Beginner to Advanced. Your teacher will guide you through the world of English grammar, syntax, vocabulary, and pronunciation
The Standard English course is 20 lessons a week, taught in small classes with individual feedback. The course focuses on learning through real-life communication (speaking, listening, reading, writing) inside and outside of the classroom.

There is a Semi-intensive option providing 3 additional conversation classes focusing on New York City-themed topics to improve fluency and pronunciation. Topics include

• Art
• Architecture

• Music

Courses last from 1 week upwards. Maximum class size is 12. Minimum age is 18.

Time and Days of the week where the course is taught – Monday – Friday morning. Some afternoon classes for Semi-intensive English and Beginners in high season.

EVENING CLASSES

For students at Intermediate to Advanced levels. Offering 4 hours a week of classes on 2 evenings.

For students with upper-intermediate to advanced English who are planning to study in the USA or another English-speaking country. Classes increase fluency and confidence in real-life situations.

The themes of the classes vary each week over a 4-week cycle to reflect the content of the test. There are test-taking tips, mock exams, and reviews of each section of the test, to ensure you are well-prepared when test day arrives.

Week 1: Reading Skills - understanding details, identifying topics, paraphrasing and summarizing skills.
Week 2: Writing Skills – organizing, connecting and supporting ideas, sentence structure and word choice.
Week 3: Listening Skills - understanding key points, important facts and relevant details, tracing the development of ideas or events.
Week 4: Speaking Skills – demonstrating effective use of grammar and vocabulary.

Make your home in Brooklyn Heights, a short walk from Cadman Plaza Park and the thrift shops and chain stores on Montague Street. Pack a picnic and spend an afternoon sunbathing in Brooklyn Bridge Park, and stroll along Brooklyn Heights Promenade to take in the gorgeous views across the river to Manhattan’s skyscrapers. Then, walk downtown to take advantage of the eclectic range of eateries on offer. Try Pollo d’Oro for Peruvian specialities and rotisserie chicken, or Café Habana for an award-winning Cuban sandwich.
